“What are people going to think of me if I quit drinking?”

I used to ask myself this question all of the time before getting sober. In response, I imagined the worst.

The way I saw it, to quit drinking was to admit that I was an alcoholic, and if I admitted I was an alcoholic, I’d be looked down on by friends, family, and coworkers.

However, when I actually quit, the reactions were far more subdued than I expected.
