Back when I was a drinker, I was not the type of person that you’d want to be around.
I was rude, short-tempered, and just plain mean. People used to tell me that they had to walk on eggshells around me because they never knew what innocuous statement or action would set me off.
I got into arguments all the time, and I used those arguments as opportunities to tear people down. I was an angry person, and I took that anger out on everyone around me.
In short, I was a jerk, and that’s the polite word for it.
