The Tiny World of an Alcoholic

I spent most of my time within a one-bedroom apartment.

I’m writing this week’s newsletter at the end of a Sunday (a couple of days before it’ll actually get sent out). Today has been a weird day, because I’ve barely left my apartment. I made a quick run to the Target down the road to pick up a snack, but that only took about 15 minutes. Aside from that, I’ve literally been sitting inside all day.

I regret not going out for a run or a bike ride earlier, because I don’t think it’s healthy to spend an entire day inside like this. However, I’m also not going to beat myself up over this, because it’s just one day. Even if it’s not ideal for me, it’s also really not a big deal to spend a day lying on the couch and reading every once in a while.

When it becomes a problem is when you do it day after day after day. When staying inside becomes the norm, it starts to seriously screw with your mental health. I know this firsthand, because I stayed in almost every day back when I was a drinker.
