Normally, my sobriety takes aren’t too controversial. I believe in most of the conventional wisdom, and I think that popular recovery strategies tend to be popular for a reason.

However, there are a few times when I’ve gone against the grain, and although they are the exception, I also think that they just might have saved my sobriety.

There’s one specific piece of sobriety advice that I completely disregarded, and it’s a good thing that I did. I truly believe that if I hadn’t broken this so-called “rule” of sobriety, I would have ended up relapsing before reaching even one year sober.
