I’ve got a confession to make: Lately, I’ve been lonely.

This goes against the standard sobriety narrative. Getting sober is supposed to help us escape from our solitude. It’s a path toward reconnecting with the world, making friends, and finding our people.

After six years sober, shouldn’t my social life be thriving? Instead, it’s been pretty stagnant this year.

In today’s newsletter, I’m going to take a look back at how alcohol affected my social life and how sobriety changed it. Then, I’ll turn to these latest feelings of loneliness, and what I plan to do about them.
