I’ve written a lot about alcoholism and addiction. I started blogging about my experiences around two years after getting sober, and have stuck with it for over six years now. These days, I just write once a week, but there were some stretches in which I wrote every single day.
And yet, despite having written such an extraordinary amount about addiction, I think that I’ve spent even more time reading about it.
I started reading about alcoholism long before I quit drinking. I first started flipping through AA’s Big Book when I was in my early twenties. I read blogs and essays for years before I got sober, and I’ve continued to read them regularly since I quit.
