I quit drinking on December 31, 2016. In just a few days, I’ll be reaching seven years sober.

Looking back over those seven years, I can say, without any hesitation, that quitting alcohol was the single most life-altering change I’ve ever made.

In this newsletter, I normally try to focus on one, narrow topic within sobriety each week. This week, however, I’m going to pull the lens back for a broader view and look at how my life and my sobriety have changed over these seven years.

I hope that for those of you who are earlier on in your sobriety, it might give you an idea of what to expect if you stick with it. And, for those of you who have been sober as long or longer than me, I wonder if you’ll see some of your own stories reflected in mine.
